Betting Standard is an independent comparison site for UK sports betting. We do not take bets and do not hold a gambling licence. Every bookmaker listed on this site holds an active licence from the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC); you can check any licence at gamblingcommission.gov.uk/public-register.
How the site makes money
Some of the “Bet now” links on this site are affiliate links. If you click through to a bookmaker and open an account, we may receive a commission from that operator. The commission is paid out of the bookmaker’s marketing budget: it does not cost you anything, and it does not change the odds, the welcome offer, the terms or the withdrawal rules you get. You can always go to any bookmaker directly instead of using our link — the account and the offer will be identical.
Not every bookmaker we list has a commercial agreement with us. We list operators because they are licensed and relevant to UK bettors, not because they pay us.
What commission does not influence
Positions in our lists. Every bookmaker gets a score out of 100 and the lists are sorted by that score. The score is built from four groups of checks: trust and licensing history, product quality, odds margin, and the real value of the welcome offer after its terms. No operator can pay for a higher position, and a bookmaker without an affiliate deal is scored exactly the same way as one with a deal. The full method is described in the “How We Evaluate and Rank” section of our main page.
Which bookmakers appear. We include UKGC-licensed operators that UK customers can actually use. We remove a bookmaker when its licence is suspended or surrendered, when it stops accepting UK customers, or when we cannot verify the terms of its welcome offer.
Offer terms and warnings. The conditions shown under each offer (minimum stake, minimum odds, expiry, payment exclusions) are published as we found them. We do not hide restrictive terms because an operator is a partner.
What commission does influence
Affiliate revenue is what pays for the site, so bookmakers with an affiliate programme are more likely to be reviewed in depth and kept up to date. That is the honest limit of the influence: it affects where we spend our time, not where a bookmaker sits in a list.
How to check our claims
Licence status can be checked on the UKGC public register. Welcome offer terms can be checked on the bookmaker’s own promotions page before you deposit; if you find that a term on our site is out of date, tell us through the contact page and we will correct it. Pages show the date they were last updated.
